How to Type in Catalan — Catalan Touch Typing Guide
Catalan (Català) is spoken by ~10 million people in Catalonia, Valencia, Balearic Islands, Andorra, and parts of southern France. It uses QWERTY-ES (the Spanish keyboard) since Catalonia is in Spain. Catalan has its own special characters: à, è, é, í, ò, ó, ú, ç, ï, ü plus the unique l·l (geminate l).

Catalan distinguishes:
- Grave accent (à, è, ò): falling stress on open vowel
- Acute accent (é, í, ó, ú): rising stress on closed vowel
- Diaeresis (ï, ü): vowel pronounced separately
- Cedilla (ç): "ss" sound before a, o, u
- L·L (geminate l): written l + middle dot + l, pronounced as long l
Catalan uses MORE accents than Spanish.
